" target="_blank">Having sailed on cruise ships for over 20 years and visited more than 100 countries and thousands of locations I can safely say that had I tried to do this any other way I would have had massive agrovation and heartaches by the score.
Being able to unpack once and to enjoy the delights of a modern resort style cruise liner in between calling at some of the most exotic and remote islands on the planet is I think the only way to travel. Sure, at times we all have to get somewhere fast and then we have to fly - also getting to the embarkation port may involve an air journey too. But I guaratee that the most stressful part of your vacation will be getting to the ship and afterwards going home. Once on the ship all the stress just ebbs away and after a few days of sipping cocktails, sun bathing on your private balcony watching the ocean drift by - all thoughts of what you left behind just disappears. "The world is your lobster" so we say in the UK - Tahitian Islands, Panama Canal, Egypt, Petra, African Safaris, Zanzibar, China, India, New Zealand - wherever you want to go.
Cruising is not just for the fit and able as these days disabled passengers are catered for better maybe than when they are out-and-about around their home towns.
I myself am partially disabled and always take with me my folding electric mobility scooter and have never experienced any problem.
Young and old alike now enjoy cruising the world - it is no longer a "Grey Power" passtime exclusively for the rich, middle to old age amongst us. Some cruise lines go overboard (forgive the pun) in trying to cater for families and from tots to teenagers they have a great time doing things that their age group loves !!
All food is included and on most ships you can order whatever you want as they have 24-hour room service at no extra charge. Dine in restaurants that are equal to the finest ashore - some have been awarded Michelin stars ! Entertainment on the best 4-star lines like Royal Caribbean, Princess, Celebrity and others, is Broadway/West End type shows + top line TV star headliners. For sports fanatics their is always a state-of-the-art gym and other activities such as...climbing walls, Tennis courts, Golf courses & simulators, basketball, Aqua surfing, Ice skating, boxing rings, etc. etc. - not my bag but it's there if you want it. For the ladies there are beauticians, hair stylists and therapy treatment rooms and on some accupuncture medics.
