The Hollywood La Brea Gateway, the stainless steel gazebo on the southeast corner of Hollywood and La Brea, sometimes called the Four Ladies Statue, welcomes you to Hollywood.  It's by production designer and director Catherine Hardwicke, from 1993 – a tribute to the multi-ethnic women of Hollywood, as the four life-size silver women supporting the structure are Mae West, Dorothy Dandridge, Anna Mae Wong and Dolores Del Rio. You decide which is which.

THE GATEWAY to HOLLYWOOD Sculpture  (1993)

This Statue of my cousin DOROTHY DANDRIDGE is in Hollywood, California at the beginning of The Hollywood WALK of FAME on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard & LaBrea Avenue There are 4 Silver Statues: "Hollywood" is shaped like the Eiffel Tower.(A Figuerine of Marilyn Monroe is inside the Dome)

Its 4-cornered base contains Extra-Tall Silver Statuettes of 4 Grand Dames of Hollywood:

Mae West, Dorothy Dandridge, Anna May Wong and Dolores Del Rio

on Hollywood Boulevard: from Gower Street to La Brea Avenue, and on Vine Street: from Yucca Street to Sunset Boulevard.

The Walk of Fame used to stop at Sycamore, but in 1994 it was expanded a block west to La Brea Avenue. New "stars" have been added along the sidewalk here, as have distinctive new street lights (resembling studio lights with "barn-doors"). And anchoring west end of the Walk of Fame, at the corner of Hollywood & La Brea, is a gleaming silver gazebo, topped by a spire which reads "Hollywood," and featuring sleek, life-size statues of four silver screen goddesses in evening gowns. In a nod to multiculturalism, the four actresses represented by the statues are Mae West, Dolores Del Rio, Dorothy Dandridge and Anna May Wong.
